· HeartMate ALERT.
Extrinsic Outflow Graft Obstruction.
February 2024.
Extrinsic outflow graft obstruction (EOGO) is triggered by accumulation of acellular biodebris between outflow graft and bend relief.
This accumulation occurs gradually over an extended period of support (> 2 years).
Constriction of outflow graft may cause:
· Low flow alarms
· Heart failure
· Hemodynamic instability
· Shock.
The company's recommendation is as follows:
1. In case of reduced flow, the initial action is to exclude other clinical conditions that may lead to low flow.
2. If the problem persists we have to investigate the possibility of outflow graft compression with CT angiogram.
After diagnosing EOGO, several options are available:
· Patient monitoring
· Outflow graft stenting
· Surgical decompression
· Pump replacement.
